Target Audience:

Teachers, Staff, and Administrators.

Overview and Objectives

Building Ethical Awareness: What is the landscape of ethics within which schools and young people operate?

During this session of the workshop, participants will:

    • Discuss ways that our "ethical barometer" has changed over time
    • Discuss the resources and challenges for young people and school in the 21st century

Defining Common Ground: What are the ethical values participants share as a school community?

During this session of the workshop, participants will:

    • Determine the core ethical values they share, and compare this to IGE’s research on shared values from around the world
    • Identify specific practices to uphold these values in action

Exploring Schools of Integrity: What conditions need to be in place in schools to support and build cultures of trust?

During this session of the workshop, participants will:

    • Explore IGE’s Schools of Integrity research, drawn from schools known for their successful balance of academic rigor and attention to the ethical development of young people
    • Discuss results from the School Culture Assessment, and explore the strengths and needs this exercise reveals
