IGE UK became a registered charity in 1995 and was incorporated in 2001. It is a non religious, non political, independent organisation and an affiliate of the Institute for Global Ethics, Rockland, USA, which was founded in 1990 by journalist, Dr Rushworth M. Kidder.
Research by IGE has identified a set of shared moral values that people have in common and that drive ethical behaviour. These are honesty, responsibility, respect, fairness and compassion.
We offer opportunities and processes that enable people to learn to use ethics in practical ways that suit their situation and need. We also collaborate with other agencies and organisations that pursue similar objectives.

IGE UK has been funded by a combination of charitable foundations, statutory funding, donations and fee-for-service activities.
