Paula K. Mirk
Vice President, Education
Paula K. Mirk, Vice President, Education, has been involved in the field of education since 1979. In 1982, she received her master's degree in education from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Since then, she has taught in a variety of settings both within the United States and abroad. Mirk has worked with business people, immigrant populations, college students, and youngsters from the primary grades through high school. She has developed an extensive background in group assessment and leadership through this variety of professional experiences. She joined the Institute in 1996.
Ms. Mirk's interests revolve around global education and character building. She has contributed to both elementary and secondary school curriculums that provide the underpinning to the Institute's classroom-based programs. She spearheaded the production of the video Tough Choices: Today and in History, and authored Elementary Decision Skills, a K-5 classroom curriculum. Mirk oversees the education department's many projects — from survey research to school reform.
Fluent in Spanish, Mirk has delivered Ethical Fitness® Seminars in Guatemala and Mexico. Her interest in and ability to work with different cultures have expanded the reach of the education department and furthered its work internationally.
