Moral Resolutions
Jan 14th, 2008 • Posted in: Letters From ReadersWrapping up our call for New Year’s moral resolutions came two suggestions: one for more ethical insight into the treatment of animals, and the other for a far-sighted approach to ethical challenges. As to the latter suggestion, the author, a psychiatrist, writes, “Humans are hardwired in our brains to respond to immediate danger…. There is no comparable natural tendency to be concerned with danger many years in the future. Resolution: I will keep writing, speaking, and advocating to cool down global warming.”
