Nations Ranked by Environmental Benchmarks
Jan 28th, 2008 • Posted in: StatlineThe 2008 Environmental Performance Index from the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy and Columbia University was released last week. The index ranks nations based on “broadly-accepted targets for environmental performance and measures how close each country comes to these goals.” The top five and bottom five nations in this year’s rankings, which were released at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, appear below:
Top Five:
1. Switzerland
2. Norway
3. Sweden
4. Finland
5. Costa Rica
Bottom Five:
145. Mali
146. Mauritania
147. Sierra Leone
148. Angola
149. Niger
