Support for Legalizing Marijuana Continues to Grow

   If we do legailze, it is just one more nail in the casket of American’s future. Would this mean we should get rid of the AMA Research and let the uniformed public decide what drugs to make legal and then let us classify the rest? What is the public doing getting involved with decisions that should be and have always been left to medical researchers and the medical profession, based on their recommendations to and approval by the government? Who am I to decide by a vote on what drug should be legalized? I am highly educated, but not in the medical field.
   I have been reading marijuana research for years and still have found no intelligent reason to support the legalization, only emotional and manipulative ones. I am saddened to think we would see Americans consider making this costly mistake.

   With all do regard to the previous opinion, Mayo clinic has done extensive medical research into the medical benefits of marijuana. It has shown that for some people, marijuana improves quality of life for terminal patients by relieving pain with fewer side effects, and is more effective in pain relief than medicines used in regular medical protocol for pallative care.

   To be sad about a decision that would have no impact on ones personal life, or their number of choices with regard to life decisions, has the potential to impact the availability of options for patients facing a far more difficult stage in their life.

   I suspect the decision to legalize marijuana will be based on political winds far more than objective research.
