Institute for Global Ethics to Move to Rockland

Camden, ME—The Institute for Global Ethics, a longtime Main Street tenant, will relocate to Rockland, Maine when its current lease expires in April. The new location, 91 Camden Street, Suite 403, in the Breakwater Marketplace on Route 1, provides the Institute with top-grade office space on a single floor, customized to meet its needs, and with greater accessibility, visibility, and room for expansion.

It also provides an expanded meeting space to meet its demand for ethics seminars and workshops for local, national, and international participants.

“The Institute has developed a new and increased cadre of clients in recent years” says board chair Cole Wilbur, of Palo Alto, California, “and we are pleased to be moving to this new location to help meet the expanding needs of the Institute.”

“We’re delighted that the Midcoast offers such quality space, and that we can remain part of the Camden-Rockland community,” says Founder & President Rushworth M. Kidder. “As our work expands in the United States and internationally, it’s increasingly important for us to have an efficient, readily accessible space for our employees and our visitors.”

Launched in Camden in 1990 by Kidder and his wife, Elizabeth, along with well-known journalist Katherine Fanning, former Editor of The Christian Science Monitor, the Institute currently employs 22 employees at its locations in Camden, London, Vancouver, and New York. As a non-profit organization, its mission is to “promote ethical behavior in individuals, institutions, and nations through research, public discourse, and practical action.”

Richard Anderson, co-founder and CEO of VillageSoup, says he is excited to have the Institute for Global Ethics move to the Breakwater Marketplace.  “The 4 th floor is evolving into its own little campus featuring education, research and communication endeavors focused on enhancing the communities in which we reside." Richard adds that he is looking forward to having long time friends and associates Rush Kidder and Graham Phaup next door.
