When does national security cross the line?
Institute for Global Ethics announces appointment of new managing director.
The Center for Corporate Ethics (CCE), a division of the Institute for Global Ethics, is focused intently on serving the ethical culture needs of businesses in the United States and around the world.
CCE brings proven tools, techniques, and programs aimed at reducing the likelihood and risks of ethical lapses. We do this by highlighting the client's corporate values, identifiying employees' personal values, and welding the two together. Then, we put them to use in a practical decision-making framework for people at all levels.
When employees own the culture of their workplace—when they feel responsible for "how things work around here"—they won't permit wrongdoing. In fact, they're likely to be more productive, turn over less frequently, and work hard for the common good of the enterprise. And when that happens, compliance is more likely to be viewed as protecting everybody rather than hindering accomplishments.
The Center springs from the broad experience of its parent, the Institute for Global Ethics, which has operated successfully in the corporate sector for nearly two decades.
"Smuckers has worked closely with the Institute for Global Ethics for more than a decade. Ethical conduct has been central to our culture throughout our hundred-year history, which is why every Smucker's employee is trained in the IGE Ethical Fitness® Seminar discipline: We believe this is a key reason why The J.M. Smucker Company now ranks #1 on Fortune's [2004] list of the '100 Best Companies to Work For.'"

How do keep your program fresh? How do you keep people focused on ethical priorities? CCE has experienced communication professionals who know how to get the word out effectively and efficiently, working with your internal resources to maintain a high level of attention from employees and management.
What's the climate like at your business? What are the important values for employees and management, and are they walking the talk? Are customers ethically treated? Do pressures or policies tempt employees to cut corners? You need to know the answers, and CCE has a reliable survey that can give you an accurate and highly detailed picture of your unique environment.

Whether you call it a code of conduct, a code of ethics, or ethics standards, CCE can help you draft the document that will capture the attention of employees. We also make it relevant to them—making it more likely that they'll adopt it as their personal responsibility.
