Community Values Forum

A positive community connection is essential to improving school climate. A key starting point is identifying the shared ethical values that all adults can agree to model and to uphold.

John Gardner, the founder of Common Cause, wrote "The accomplishment of any group's purpose generally requires shared values firmly held."

Often conducted during an afternoon or evening, this forum engages community members and educators around the importance of ethics education and leads participants to a code of ethics that everyone can endorse and use to guide future planning.

"The assistance and encouragement our community received from the Institute for Global Ethics in our process of identifying the community values that will support our code of conduct was outstanding. I personally found the staff from IGE to be thoughtful and skillful facilitators. I wouldn't hesitate to utilize them again in future endeavors."
