Training
A really great code of ethics is more than words on a wall-it's a living document, an invisible driver of your organization's behavior. But it takes more than printing posters and wallet cards to drive the values home. Getting the word out requires a mix of training, discussion, and endorsement. Your leadership must drive the effort and model the behavior.
The Institute for Global Ethics has designed successful techniques that combine these essential ingredients for a widespread, long-term impact. A single, one-size-fits-all approach is inadequate. Ethical organizations have unique legends, languages, and communication systems, both formal and informal. Our experience has shown that a tailored training program works best.
IGE's Ethical Fitness® Seminar is the cornerstone of our code-training process. We help employees understand and appreciate the code and how to apply it on the job. The seminar comprises a multitude of elements that can include:
- Moral awareness
- Values definition
- Values operationalization
- Right versus wrong
- Right versus right
- Dilemma analysis
- Dilemma resolution
- Moral courage
- Ethical leadership
After delivering the core training of your new code, there's plenty of opportunity to customize for special applications. There's also plenty of depth for future training to keep the code alive and active.
