Anthony J. Gray Appointed Distinguished Scholar at the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery (WID)

Madison, WI: The Institute for Global Ethics is pleased to announce today the appointment of President and CEO, Anthony J. Gray, as a Distinguished Scholar at the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery (WID), a transdisciplinary research partnership housed at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The Wisconsin Institute for Discovery was founded on the idea that unexpected and novel collaborations can yield amazing insights. Creative minds from any area where challenging thought is valued are welcomed, and a wide range of programs are hosted at the Institute for artists, writers and entrepreneurs. WID is headed by David Krakauer, whose vision for WID parallels an experimental "greenhouse" that nourishes hybrid approaches to science, new disciplines and unexpected partnerships. "We invite the curious," said Mr. Kraukauer, "--scientists and artists, entrepreneurs and researchers, writers and readers, and teachers and learners--to see how they can collide and connect in our creative commons."

The state-of-the-art facility brings together scientists and researchers from a broad spectrum of disciplines, such as the arts, humanities, social sciences, education, business and law. It also includes extensive public spaces in its Town Center intended to promote dialogue as a fertile crossroads for ideas among diverse parts of UW-Madison and the larger community.

In the Distinguished Scholars Program, WID invites talented experts to bring fresh perspectives to the Institute's core mission and values. Scholars explore connections and collaborations at WID, helping the Institute approach big ideas from several vantage points.

"I am so pleased to be a part of this prestigious Institute," said IGE President Anthony Gray, "and look forward to the synergy that will be created by our two organizations."

WID Distinguished Scholars are appointed for a period of one year.
