Paralegal Association of Wisconsin-Madison Chapter Explore the Ethics of the Legal Profession

(Madison, WI) – On Monday April 13 the Paralegal Association of Wisconsin (PAW)—Madison chapter heard from IGE president and CEO, Anthony J. Gray, when he presented an hour-long talk titled “Ethical Fitness® for Legal Professionals.” During his talk they explored a framework of ethical principles that, when properly applied, can guide legal professionals through proven steps for analyzing and resolving the toughest ethical dilemmas.

An important role of the Paralegal Association of Wisconsin (PAW) is to expand professional knowledge and provide a forum for the discussion of subjects relating to legal matters. This event promised to accomplish just that. Gray’s talk was presented as part of the April 2015 meeting of the Association’s Madison chapter.

“Attorney Gray’s presentation truly expanded our view on ethics and what it means to be faced with an ethical dilemma,” said Tonya Petrick, Madison Chapter director for PAW. “I love that the skill set taught by the Institute for Global Ethics can be applied to any professional or personal situation. I only wish we’d had more time to practice using the tools and techniques provided to us.”

Gray has presented similar talks to the State Bar of Wisconsin Health Labor & Employment Law Institute, as well as the 2015 Western States Bar Conference in Hawaii.

“Legal professionals come across genuine ethical dilemmas with much greater frequency than many other professions,” says Gray. “IGE’s methodology is designed to provide guidance on getting to the core of a dilemma, parsing between core and non-core elements, and seeing it through to its resolution.”

The event was held on Monday, April 13 th at the offices of Godfrey & Kahn, located at One East Main Street #500 in Madison, WI. Mr. Gray’s 45-minute presentation was followed by a 15 minute period of Q&A.
